Happy Birthday CTMH Australia!!

Happy Birthday to The Creative Heart, The Creative Heart Team, to Close To My Heart Australaia  and all my  #ctmhaustralasia sisters!

It has been two years since I started with the awesome company Close To My Heart and I could not be happier! I am grateful Jeanette created this company with its central messages and that Brian went looking for a good company to take us into in 2013.

Would you believe two years ago I could not stamp to save myself? I even had to give myself permission to use stamping in my scrapbooking! Since then I have learned the joys of the Cricut, made flowers, and made use of my knowledge of painting and other mediums to make some pretty creative mixed media pieces and taught classes, workshops and more. I have been on trips away and found the rewards are much more than where the money is.

Most important to me is the new family I have.  I have met some awesome #ctmhsisters and had heaps of fun at conventions, retreats, crop events, my classes and launch events. Sisters are always there with help and support any time of day and my amazing Presidential Director visits our little country town during the year too! I have the Mantra ‘Everyone is welcome here’. I have grown a team of ‘sisters’ who watch out for each other and share and care for each other. I have done my best to be a good leader and while not being able to meet everyone’s needs I have done as good as I could at the time.  I could not be prouder of my team and how they have grown with me.  Just yesterday I had one very excited team member who made her first quarter work for her. I was like a proud mum. It warmed my heart to hear her excitement!

I could gush for ages about how awesome this company feels – but will let these photos do that work. Here are some snaps of where the Creative Heart Team has come over the last two years. If you would like to be part of the fun we have be sure to drop me a line. You can of course join any time right here.

I was just a bit excited about getting my box!

Deal of the Day

I am pretty darn excited to know that I can go online shopping, pop just one item in my basket and voila I will have the opportunity to grab a bag of bargains!  Woohooo….This online shopping could  be fun!

1504-cc-deal-of-the-day

So Just how does this all work and What is in the bag?

It’s a Mystery!

It’s a ‘WIGWAM for a goose’s bridle ‘ as my mother used to say.

It’s a surprise and if we told you what was in the bag then it would not be a surprise, would it? (Mum used to say that too!)

So Close To My Heart is going to announce on a daily basis what purchase price of today’s grab bag is. It could be the lower end of $65 like today, or a much higher $215. BUT, whatever you put in you get almost double back.

  • • $65 AUD/$75 NZD Grab Bags (On average, a $105 AUD/$130 NZD value!)
  • • $75 AUD/$85 NZD Grab Bags (On average, a $120 AUD/$152 NZD value!)
  • • $105 AUD/$120 NZD Grab Bags (On average, a $195 AUD/$240 NZD value!)
  • • $165 AUD/$200 NZD Grab Bags (On average, a $330 AUD/$400 NZD value!)
  • • $215 AUD/$250 NZD Grab Bags (On average, a $440 AUD/$540 NZD value!)

What is the catch? I hear you say

You have to shop online – and use the shopping cart. You had to order one regular priced item. That is all you need to open the gates to these goodies!

What are you waiting for? Come on – let’s go shopping!

Sticky Boy Has Arrived in my Studio!

OMG I am so excited….if you are a CTMH sister who has been to a CTMH event you will get this. If not…imagine the fun! I am one of the many fully grown people who have looked and looked and looked…..on walls, on pillars, on tables, under tables, on railings, on mirrors, on glass, on pitchers, … in short…On IN or Under anything within cooee of a foyer or registration desk at one of our CTMH functions, looking for the elusive Sticky Boy.He comes in all sizes and loves to dress up! (my kind of guy 😉 )

Back in 2013 when my connection to the company started I was like many wondering ‘who or what is this sticky boy?’ Then I saw Him – elusive fellow he is,  and someone let me stamp him on my paper, but he wasn’t mine and I had only the stamped image to remember him by. Back then, I also watched the Sticky Boy Video, and learned the Sticky Boy Story. One thing is for sure, as far as acrylic stamps go I am in love with My Acrylix and truly appreciate the range by CTMH. Watch this video and you will see Sticky Boy at his best!

I did manage to get a teeny weeny Sticky Boy Dressed in Aussie slouch hat carrying a suitcase at convention but I am so afraid of losing him I keep him tucked in my convention attendance holder. Soon he will make an appearance on pages I scrapbook when I am up to convention USA in 2014. (I am working on it – up to week 3 of my trip!) So for this little cutie you will have to wait!

I am not going to repeat the whole sticky boy story here.  You can follow Sticky Boy yourself on Facebook or instagram – just look for the hashtag #whereintheworldisstickyboy and you are sure to find not only his story but some awesome artwork too.   I am very lucky to have an upline who was willing to share her stick boy with me. I am axcited to be able to share and pass on the legacy (or is that legend, cos Sticky Boy is a Leg (pronouncedd lej) ya know!)

So, this is where sticky boy is in my part of the world. #whereintheworldisstickyboy   Mildura, Australia. As soon as he arrived in my mailbox I started sharing my day with Sticky Boy. We went out to visit my parents.

The First artwork featuring my Sticky Boy –

It isn’t too late to get your Year Noted paper kit with qualifying orders. If you order online it can be sent right to your door (Australia Only) and you will be in the monthly host draw.

Everything ABC’s Letter G- GLAMOUR!

abc bloghopWelcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter G. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their G element will be featured in their post. If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda’s blog ~ Scrappy Therapy If you came from Darlys Recker – Crafty Happy then you’re on the right track!

G is for Glamour!

Close up of some of the Glam with CTMH

Close up of some of the Glam with CTMH

We have plenty of Glamour at Close To My Heart! There is of course lots of shimmer and bling to choose from. We have glitter papers that do not flake everywhere. We have a whole range of colours in sparkles and gems including the Sparkle Black Flourishes. I also I love our alphasets and I especially love the Glamour sets D1537 and D1522. It is this alpha set that was the starting place for my project.

Glamour Upper Case Stamp Set

Glamour Lower Case set

From this decision and selecting the photo I then went for a browse through my Cricut Collections and found an overlay in Artbooking which has doubled as a stencil and glamour icons  Artiste. There is the Eiffel Tower, a Dressmakers manikin, a dress, a coat hanger, a chandelier and more on p 40-41. I cut the overlay from page  of Artbooking p 47. Then I did a bit of everything else. I tried a few different pieces and not all made it to the completed page. But that is ok – that is what Mixed media is about!

In my stash I had gold ribbons, paper clips and some other bits and pieces along with my Gesso, Texture paste and Spray pens.

Finally I grabbed my Base and Bling rhinestones ( I could have chosen more!) and I had a rather large assortment of Glamour pieces to choose from for my page to go with the Glam look of my girlfriend and I celebrating in style.

Of course red an purple are hard to work with. By sticking with neutrals of Black, Bamboo, and Desert Sand in both Ink and cardstock I was able to back this photo and not create too much competition.

Here is the final page I came up with

The finished page minus some journalling

The finished page minus some journalling

The How

I began with a white cardstock base and first sealed it with gesso. (Available from art supply and craft stores) CTMH cardstock is very absorbent for any wet techniques so this step is important. I then used my overlay as a stencil and added texture paste.  (Available from art supply and craft stores). Wipe the excess paste off the stencil and you then have the overlay ready when dry for inking. This step was left overnight to dry.

?????????

?????????

Use a spatula, knife or tongue depresser to spread texture paste over the stencil.

?????????

Lift the overlay (stencil) away, wipe off excess and leave to dry. Baking paper is excellent for this as nothing sticks!

I then sprayed black ink onto the surface. It looked more grey than black when dry but that was ok. You can see a touch of green in this when sprayed too.  I rubbed the dried texture paste with the ink pad and got  a nice strong black as a stark contrast. I then smudged the background with Bamboo Pigment in and then background stamped the page with Bamboo and Black. For the black I used secondary stamping technique. This means you stamp once on scrap  then on the project. This took the ‘strong’ black out so it did not compete with what was to come. The stamp set for  this section of the work is from Inspiration Flourishes Stamp Set C1581. I also used this stamp set in the embellishments on the page.

?????????

Get some nice big drips, hold the page ertical and let it run for a little more fun!

?????????

?????????

I rubbed the overlay piece with bamboo pigment ink. I also smudged this into the background.

. Next I had to bling up the Paper for the photo so I used Versamark ink and some Silver embossing powder. You could easily use Silver Glitter paper to do this without all the fuss!

Dress Ups! This is the funbit. Play around with your elements and where you may place them on the page. Once you are happy with it you can begin to stick it down.

Dress Ups! This is the fun bit. Play around with your elements and where you may place them on the page. Once you are happy with it you can begin to stick it down.

Now I finished off elements ready for the page. I used liquid glass on the Chandelier and Eiffel Tower, distressed the edges of the dress, put overlay on the manikin and stamped and distressed the title and other elements.I found the overlay needed black behind it so I did that and my piece of scrap silver was too big so I made it smaller. I added and took away bits of ribbon and things from my sewing stash too. You get the idea. play dressups and see what you come up with.

My Gold ribbon was wired. To stick it down I used Liquid Glass and a bit of weight thanks to a craft knife and scissors while the glue dried. I also used foam tape to help with height for the other pieces.

Weight used to allow liquid glass time to dry and hold the ribbon

Weight used to allow liquid glass time to dry and hold the ribbon

I then went ahead sticking all the other bits down. At last minute I decided to add the ivy lane flowers and therefore needed a bit of green – I had some other pieces I had cut and the negative spaces from these so they did the job. The finished arrangement is not like the first – the dress or the tower….I wanted the Eiffel Tower to fit in. I also needed to sponge a little more black under the dressmakers manikin so it didn’t get lost.

Finally I decided the page needed an edge so with the help of daubers and Bamboo and Desert sand I got a distressed edge.

Here is another look at the finished piece.

Balloon Talk S1404A : CTMH Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop

10001517_10152327088764808_982230598_n

Hello and welcome aboard our Stamp of the Month Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop. If you have arrived here from Jenny’s Heart and Craft Corner  then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Today I would like to share with you this Family Party Time double page layout which features April Stamp of the Month Balloon Talk S1404A  available exclusively throughout April for $24 or for just $5 when you spend $75.

Family Party Tome featuring Balloon Talk SOTM available only in April.

Family Party Time featuring Balloon Talk SOTM available only in April.

Right away Balloon Talk brings to mind fun pages. The sample provided in the stamp set also takes this approach.

SOTM Balloon Talk

SOTM Balloon Talk

These fabulous labels and key words can be used on formal scrapbook pages, cards and would be great fun in any mini album or the Crush Book.
I have pretty much completed my 50th Birthday album but there was one set of photos I had not yet done. I needed fun papers, fun titles and CTMH have provided both in the current Idea Book.

Lolydoodle paper pack. Also available in a Card making kit and a Workshops on the go Scrapbooking kit.

Lollydoodle is funky, fun and colourful. I chose the pink highlight colour to bring out the pink outfits of the under 50’s guests and the Whisper base was a good neutral way to carry the colours through both pages. This page celebrates my family’s love of belting out a good bit of old fashioned rock from the 70’s and 8o’s, my brothers love of air guitar and us all joining our entertainer Paul for a sing along. It was this aspect of my celebration that was truly ‘AWESOMENESS’. Yes we did have a blast.

The layout is based on pattern 9 in Make it from your heart Vol 1 pp 22-23. I chose this design as I only had a few scraps of Lolloydoodle left to use after having used both the WOTG kit and the Card making kit. The frame supporting the photo on the left page is cut with the Cricut Artiste Cartridge (p 60) and the title family is on the same page. I cut the flowers from page 54. I set these up in Cricut craftroom on my mat specifically to fit the size of the paper pieces I had.

Close up of right hand page showing Balloon Talk

Close up of left hand page showing Balloon Talk

You can see them ready to go in the cricut here.

cut for family fun page ????????

I have also used Artbooking Cartridge to get Party Time title (p 87) and Live out loud title (p44).

On the right hand side, the photo mat with the stars is from page 65. (Both these Cricut collections and the Art Philosophy Cartridge are FREE in April for anyone joining CTMH in April. Please talk to your consultant today to find out more about this awesome company! ) I used daubers and ink to colour up my cutouts and ink the edges of the papers. I decided I needed a bit of an outside border so I trimmed 1/4 inch off two sides of each page and mounted the whole onto Juniper cardstock at opposite corners.

????????

Once I had the basic page layout and the photos all attached I then went to town stamp a heap of balloon talk titles on scrap white card stock. (Yes I hoard my scraps) I did various colours and more than I needed.

????????

I fussy cut them all out. Some of the set you can do cricut cuts for, but for this I wanted the other titles and they are simple to cut out. Then I played dressups. I do this a lot. I try different embellishments in different places and swap things around until I am happy. I am worried there is too much on the left hand page but justify it by saying balloon talk is my journalling!
Balloon Talk Stamp of the month is only available until April 30th from your my online store or your local CTMH consultant. Remember it  $24 to buy but with orders over $75 AU it is just $5 and you can shop online from anywhere in AU. (Or NZ with a NZ Consultant) I’d love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop,  Patricia Manhire’s Creative Corner Blog and see what they have created with this fun stamp set. Thank you so much for visiting. I would love it if you would leave a comment.

Have a good one

Here is what Founding Director Diane Lampert has had to say about Becoming part of the Close To My Heart opportunity

“After 15 years with Creative Memories in Australia, I wondered what my future held when the company ceased operations. Uncertainty turned to certainty—the BEST THING EVER—a new business opportunity with Close To My Heart!

The results are astounding: my Team business is larger than it was previously and my Team is thriving; attendance at events is at an all-time high; new Consultants are engaged and enthusiastic, and everyone is happy working with the expansive Close To My Heart product line and this wonderful company. It’s so exciting to be involved in this fresh start!

Company founder Jeanette Lynton has built this debt-free company over the past 30 years and she has a vision for the next 30 years that every single member of the corporate team embraces and executes every day. We Sparkled and Shone!

Wow! How awesome is it to have a Founding Director visit your area to present a workshop! I was really excited to have Diane Lampert come to Mildura and help us launch the Holidays from the Heart products at our Sparkle and Shine event. We had many customers and consultants come along and get inky with trees and baubles and some great artwork was produced. I would like to share with you some photos from the event. I have written about my dream to fill the venue with scrapbookers and card makers and I am so glad to say that on this occasion we did achieve the highest numbers yet!

Holidays from the Heart on show

Note – I was busy running around helping with the event so I only have a few photos and none of me – I hope the photos by others will come through soon and I can add them in here.

As a consultant I learned a lot. Our customers had FUN! Many chose to join the CTMH family taking home the best deal we have. It was a fabulous day! Thank you so much to all customers, consultants and especially Diane for coming to visit us!
