I gathered my stuff together – Blue Bird Book, Bluebird assortment, Glacier twine, Aqua Dots, Shin Han Markers, Blocks, ink,

There are 5 books to choose from altogether – Modville, Bluebird, In the Pink, Wildwood and Holiday Happenings. For this post I am sharing a page I created in the My Crush® Bluebird/Memories Combo. There are actually 2 combos for this book to choose from because there are 2 assortment packs!

To begin with I have no real plan – just a whole lot of coordinating product. I have the book, a photo, and the stamp. I have the assortment, some washi tapes, aqua dots, Shin Han Markers and Ponderosa Pine ink. I begin by deciding on possible embellishments from the assortment. Here are the steps I followed:

  • I do a little dress rehearsal with different elements to see what I like.
  • I stamp some of the flowers on the coloured card in that assortment and fussy cut them. I stamped others and the butterfly and coloured them.
  • Looking at the stickers I use a deep teel green and a fuschia coloured tab sticker back to back to create a tab and have the Gold Dot Washi and Silver washi ready as hinges to make a flap for journalling.(I am feeling pretty sentimental so lots of journal space is needed on this page. I may even write a whole lot more on the page next to this one. )
  • I begin laying down and layering the elements and decide to stamp on the page. Since I have already got some things in this book it is necessary to put my versamat under the page and right up against the coil binding so as to get a flat even surface to stamp.
  • I made the journaling pieces and did the journalling before sticking them down.
  • I did decide after I had put some things down to add a little spray mist with reinkers and that was not as successful as I hoped.

Using the versamat under the page for a stable stamping surface.

Crushbooks are fun projects for odds and sods in your photos abd memorabilia. They will reveal the quirks of you and your life providing your family an insight into you.  I have filled one Crush book almost completely, made a good start on a second and made a start on a third. I treat them very much as reflective journals and try to use them to offer my children and theirs an insight into my everyday life.

Everything ABC’s Blog Hop Wildwood and Wanderful!

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

abc bloghop

For this hop we will be featuring the letter W. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their # element will be featured in their post. If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda’s blog ~ Scrappy Therapy  If you came from there  then you’re on the right track!

Welcome to Wildwood and Wanderful!

I will be honest I was almost as indecisive about which of the two products I am currently using to feature for W as I was about pushing the ‘buy now’ on my air tickets that would whisk me off on my fab seven week trip of a life time to Mexico and Disneyland USA for the CTMH Convention!

Would I share with you Wanderful PML Pages and cards, or would I share my Wildwood Z2001 My Crush Book  Journal – a journal that is much more lovely when you open it than it looks in our Idea book?

Wildwood

PicsArt_1414663483596

The Wildwood My Crush Book has journal prompts, fabulous textures, loads of distressed pages and more. I loved it as soon as I saw the title page which I am sharing with you here, and I urge you to check out more than just the pages shown in the Idea Book. I decided to use the blank back of the cover for a few Wanderful PML cards to offer some of the back story to my trip. The card ‘just GO’ says it all! The title page ‘And so it starts….” is a sound beginning to this little story.

PicsArt_1414665999264

PicsArt_1414663270627

My first double page is about the decision to go and a little reflection about a regular day on the street in Mexico City. I used Wanderful cards for the journalling and of course in these kinds of journals we are supposed to break the rules….so while one page has a matted photo (Tres traditional)  the other has this rather odd angled one. I also used the Black Arrow Washi tape and will probably use this throughout as the Arrows are a feature of the Wanderful Paper and PML cards.

Wanderful

My album is well underway, but I am still in week one! I love to journal and make sure every key thought, idea and reflection is captured too. I also have to remind myself ‘not every photo needs to be scrapped’. But journaling is different. I have it everywhere! My students and my team will agree I do not think we are done as scrapbookers unless we are journalling too. Let’s face it, I do not expect to be around forever to tell my grandchildren who everyone is in the photos, and what we were doing, thinking and celebrating. So…let’s make journalling FUN!! and SUPER EASY!

CTMH have the solution for us with the Picture My Life Product Range bringing Journalling cards in products like Wanderful PML. Almost every card in this set lends itself to story telling, making it a very different set to say Chantilly or Pear and Partridge which have a few more decorative elements and lend themselves more readily to card making too.

PicsArt_1414663751356

So, let’s move on to my scrapbook page. I really did not quite know how to scrap these photos. The photos are from different times of the day, all of the same place, the Zocalo (City Square). Red was the predominant colour. I just loved the Wanderful PML card that said ‘This is what the world looks like‘ as I landed in Mexico City right in the middle of a Cultural festival. The Zocalo was a tent city, each tent representing countries around the world, including Australia. So It really was an ‘around the world’ in a day experience and even included a UK red Double Decker Bus!.

PicsArt_1414663671594

The cards I chosen have a sentiment that reflects how I felt, just wanting to ‘roam’ as I did on this day. They gave me the way to not put every photo on the page (yes that is a flip flap stack right there with 5 photos)  – just a representation of the day. This was easy peasy journalling and made a difficult to coordinate page an easy scrapbook layout! I still think it needs a bit more but I am armed with arrow washi tape and believe that will do the trick.

PicsArt_1414663622834

The stamped embellishments are from the Wanderful Workshop on the Go Stamp Set and Here we Go D1600. I used the same colours that are in the Wanderful PML Cards – Cranberry, Flaxen and Black. I am totally in love with the mini notebook stamp and it features already on many pages in this album.

BTW The pockets in the album are the strap hinge ones as I am stash scrapping as I complete these pages and they do a fab job to fill albums I already had on hand. I am loving CTMH Memory Protectors and their durable quality!

Wanderful PML

Oh I Almost forgot!!! Up until now these collections came with a title page and plastic pockets. Talk to your consultant about the A La Carte version of PML – no title or pocket pages. That way using them like this does not leave you with 10 empty pocket pages! For Australian Consumers the A La Carte code is for Wanderful is Z3063

CTMH Stamps of the Month Australasian Blog Hop December

Hello and welcome aboard the  Australasian Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month Blog Hop. If you have arrived here from  Patrica’s Blog then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Today I would like to share with you this gorgeous Stamp of the Month Special Care.

Special Care Stamp of the month. This stamp is yours with any $75 purchase made in December with your CTMH consultant.

Special Care Stamp of the month. This stamp is yours with any $75 purchase made in December with your CTMH consultant.

I was thinking of all sorts of things I could do with this. My immediate reaction was all things Victorian, but I didn’t have photos that would suit that. I then thought of cards and decided yes cards for the unwell, for people just having a tough time, and those in need of love, support and encouragement this stamp would work. I also thought of babies. I can visualise all sorts of baby pages using this Special Care stamp set because all babies do need to be handled with care.

So what could I do that was inspiring and about special care? My babies are long grown up and I have already scrapped my Grandson as a new born. I then though of my other baby, Mr Macey! Mr Macey was given to me by my mother for my 5oth birthday and when I first got him he was little more in size than the palm of my hand. I have some of those cute puppy photos, I have the Babyckes WOTG kit, so why not? He is my baby right?

Before we go further please let me apologise for the incomplete artwork to follow. My order is still in transit (thanks Aus Post!) So you need to put your imagination on! Here is a challenge – which of the stamps from the stampset would you use on these pages?

This is Mr Macey as a puppy.

This is Mr Macey as a puppy.

What a difference the tags make!

What a difference the tags make!

This page is done using scraps and leftovers after completing the babycakes WOTG pages. I have also used the Art Philosophy Cricut cartridge alphabet cut at 2 inches for the titls. All this page needs now is a tag from Special Care. The layout is inspired by the Bottom Border title one on page 35 of Reflections Scrapbook program.

Here Miss Maggie is a bit put out by the presence of mr Macey in her bed!

special care 1

To make this page I have used the negative space leftover from cutting the large shape from the WOTG kit page layout. I used Sunset to ink the edges and have propped it up with 3D foam tape. The photo was not all that large but supporting it with a splash of colour from scraps has worked well. All it needs is the addition of Special Care!

Hmm...Caption this!

Warning....Hugs and Kisses required!

Warning….Hugs and Kisses required!

Another page I have done is this one. I had to dip into my supplies by this time and wanted to replicate patchwork and sewing (another topic choice for this stamp set.) I took the idea from the Reflections scrapbook program book p65 but my pieces didn’t quite fit the square. The last 1/2 inch was fixed by using the stitch guide on the ruler and grabbing some of my embroidery floss to create the zig zag border on the left. I added stitch lines roughly by hand to all the B and T papers  – I never get my quilting lines straight or even so the manner in which these are done reflects that! The texture of the jute ribbon (from my stash) adds an extra dimension all ready and waiting for….a title or tag from Special care!

I have used the following products in this design.

Hip pics albums make an awesome gift!

Do you like to brag? I am a bragging Nana and now I have this awesome little handbag size album to go bragging with!

This is the awesome little hip pics album. The project features my Grandson on his first birthday at his cake smash photo shoot.

This is the awesome little hip pics album. The project features my Grandson on his first birthday at his cake smash photo shoot.

For those of you looking for the perfect Christmas gift here is an idea that will suit your budget, your time, and a number of different people on your list. The Hip Pics Album kit is now available to CTMH Australia for just $18 and can be done quickly and easily in under two hours. I did this one for myself, but can see it would easily make a fabulous gift for a loved one in a number of ways. A Hip Pics Album is a fast, easy, cost effective project for you to make for someone special- and we all know how much people love gifts with photos and memories in them – or you can purchase a kit for your best friend or mum who are crafters themselves. If you want just that Hip Pic album and use your stash to decorate it that is possible too as they can be ordered on their own for $12 each.

Assuming the photos are already picked out and printed in under an hour you could have this done – a little more if you like to decorate more.

Check out these pages

hip pics album pages mini pocket 3

There are 8 white pocket pages  in the book therefore room for 16 photos. All you need to do is trim photos to suit the 4×4 window and mount them on a piece of cardstock 4 1/4 x 6 and slide it into the sleeve. Put one photo each side of the card. Then decorate and journal. in the ample space below and around the borders.

The kit comes with 5 sheets of petite die cuts in kraft, navy blue, pink, aqua and yellow and are just the right mini size for these 4×4 photo windows. The kit also comes with a coordinating stamp set so you can decorate those die cut embellishments with your ink. Add more decoration with sentiments and icons from other stampsets in your stash (if you are like me and need to decorate a little more!) By the end of the project you will still have loads of those die cuts ready to pop into another Hip Pics album. If you would like to make one but do not have ‘all the gear’ let me know and we’ll get you booked into a class to get one done.

Isn’t this just darling?

CTMH Stamps of the Month Australasian Blog Hop

Hello and welcome aboard the  Australasian Close to My Heart Stamp of the Month Blog Hop. If you have arrived here from  Lauren’s blog then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Today I would like to share with you this double page layout in my My Crush Bluebird book which features  Illuminate Stamp of the Month.  I am loving this stamp and I hope my contribution will inspire you!

I decided to work with the light imagery of this stamp and took a dive into my Bluebird My Crush Book. I love My Crushbooks as they are very versatile journals. They are a quick and easy to complete legacy to leave for the family if they dare to read one day. They are also a trendy way for tweens to scrapbook.

Illuminate is the starting point for all of the ideas on this double page in Bluebird My Crush book.

Illuminate is the starting point for all of the ideas on this double page in Bluebird My Crush book.

As light imagery and spirituality are my theme for the page I googled quotes and sayings about the same. (Gotta love how a google search can provide inspiration based on two keywords.) I looked in images for the ones I used here.

I then picked a double page in my Bluebird My Crush book with no other motiff on it. My SOTM ‘Illuminate’ is to provide this. Then I went taking photos. (Go On…you do do it too don’t you?) I decided on my Buddha and my mirrored melt pot because they reflected the sayings I collected. Time to get crafty!

How to get a nice circle with that little candle stamp.

How to get a nice circle with that little candle stamp.

First I had to work out my Buddha saying. I grabbed a scrap of cardstock, punched a 1 1/2 inch circle and lightly adhered this to the center of the cardstock I am using. I then took that dainty tiny candle stamp and stamped at 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock around the circle Then I stamped between these and was able to fit two more in between. While doing this be sure to turn your work so your candle lies in line with the center of the circle (or imagine it lining up with clock hands) . I removed the circle, cut a tiny candle (A rectangle with a concave end!) and stuck it into the center. I used Juniper markers to shade the sides and white chalk marker to suggest dripping wax. With a fine black marker I drew the flame. Using Honey alcohol marker I added a glow to the little candles and a flame in the center one. I then penned the verse in as neatly and as evenly as I could. It isn’t perfect, but it doesn’t need to be – it is handcrafted!

Candles in the round, inspired by an image with the saying.

Candles in the round, inspired by an image with the saying.

I dug through my Bluebird memories assortment and came up with the card that inspired one of the sayings I found. I decided to emulate, just a little, the popularity of typography right now and used the letter stickers in the pack for key words. I have also added one of the cute envelopes, again with a saying.

The perfect prompt and lettering in the assortment

The perfect prompt and lettering in the assortment

Most of the rest is all done using the illuminate stamp set – the lovely lamp base, hanging lanterns, titles and sentiments all stamped in black using Illuminate. For the lantern on the big lamp I first stamped the page, then a piece of cardstock. By fussy cutting this and popping it over the base stamp I got some nice dimension as well as colour onto the page.

The lantern is stamped twice - the second on colour and mounted over the first

Let your Light Shine with Illuminate

I love the Stamp of the Month Program with Close To My Heart and this month’s stamp brings with it lots of Vintage Chic appeal as well as positive messages of hope and love. ‘Faith Shine’s Bright’, ‘Let your light shine through’, ‘If there is light in the soul there will be beauty in the person’, Images of light abound in our life and our stories, and we can easily relate to the symbolism that goes with the word ‘light’. I have only just started on uses for this stamp set.

Illuminate! What a perfect name!

While this stamp set can be seen as for Christmassy pags and cards,  as a complement of the Sparkle and Shine  paper and stamp collection, I like to think it can be so much more! As a result I am pleased to give you some examples to get you thinking about what has brought, or is bringing light into your life!

I have often used light in reflections I have prepared. Light is a timeless symbol of faith, wisdom and joy. In this stamp set we have the Chic lamp base and a range of lanterns which is very trendy and quite ‘Parisienne‘; a string of lights that can highlight being centre stage, sentiments for a range of hope and gratitude moments and even the cutest little candle. Can you see it here?

Let Your Light Shine Artbook page

I celebrate the ‘light’ and excitement my first two team members give me on a regular basis. I am also very much into artbooking and invite you to follow along with the artbooking videos CTMH are producing in their series Artbooking Made Easy. For this page I have used the cricut and Artbooking Cartridge to cut photo mat 1on p44 at the recomended 8″ which is perfect for the My Creations Kraft 3 ring binder. From the same page I cut ‘inspire’ (title – shift)  I also cut the small overlay from page 50 (Overlay – shift) at 8 inches (it doesn’t turn out that big!) to create the lattice fence look. Everything else on this page is stamped using the stamps in the Illuminate set as well as the swirls around set,

First I random stamped some colonial white cardstock big enough to back the lattice piece with the little round radiant light stamp using Topiary. I then fixed the lattice to this and trimmed to fit. The word inspire was cut with the cricut when I did the page so I have coloured this up by smudging it with Hollyhock Pigment ink. Then I stamped the background on the page itself with the lamp base, a lamp, the lights across the top, the title, and on the tab I put the sentiment.  I trimmed my photo to fit within the lattice overlay shape. The lattice is adhered as a pocket using foam tape at sides and about 1/3 of the way up from the bottom so the photo slides in and out. I did this as behind the photo is my journalling! I like to create surprises in my artbooking!

Key Products Used – Cardstock Champagne, Colonial white, New England Ivy; Inks Slate, Topiary; Stamps S1311 Illuminate and D1551 Swirls around; Cricut Artbooking cartridge from the Artbooking Collection Z1906

In the second project I just happened to have some awesome photos of lights and the sentiments on the stamp set matched these photos perfectly. Not only is this page about the lights but about the awesome  mood of the evening I spent with fellow Close To My Heart consultants at dinner in the Spaghetti Tree in Melbourne while at Creative Kickoff .

I also like to step out of the box with papers and these are 100% from the Babycakes Workshop on the go kit! Yep, the page has nothing to do with babies, but the stripe, the orange and the yellow were all colours I needed to enhance the lampshades and the embellishments added an additional bit of fun light to the page!  The bronze shimmer trim did not go astray either! As to techniques, here I really really sanded the Sunset paper edge – using a foam sanding scrubber! I inked the edge of the orange stripe and the yellow print, and rolled up the edge on the striped piece before adhering it all down. The actual layout is based on one of the designs in that awesome book we all get in our kits ‘Reflections’ scrapbook program, p40.

Faith Shines bright was the perfect caption for this exciting evening of fellowship.

Do you have a photo of the single best moment of your life?

And if so, how do you share it?’

My CTMH director shared this post with our team and it is heart-warming to know that we can find a photo that in a specific moment in time we might define as our single best moment in life. I suspect in a year or two some of these photos could be replaced with another ‘single’ best moment as our life continues and perspectives change. The more I think about it the more I have decided I would struggle to pick just one as you can see below.

Is it the birth of my child? Seeing one of them all dressed up like a princess for her Deb ball? The birth of my Grandson?….I would easily make a book of the single best moment of each year, but for a lifetime I would be hard pressed to choose just one defining moment. What would you choose? Why? How would you share it with others?

I guess this is why I scrapbook. Every photo I put into an album is there to show some aspect of my life I want to share with the fuuture generations of my family. It was fantastic seeing how people looked over my albums at my 50th birthday! There is a shelf of books of moments for future generations of my family to enjoy. Their story is preserved in pictures, with words, and with journalling, all lovingly embellished so the record was both enjoyable to create and will be enjoyable to read.

I am not sure who will enjoy my scrapbooks, or when – but they have been created to record my defining moments! I am proud to share them even if my handwriting is crappy. The important thing is, my family will know what I thought was important to celebrate and acknowledge.

So…did you see the original tweet or share your photo?

Here is the film clip about a tweet that got ‘hot’ on twitter. The fountain of humanity – alive and well 🙂

Phots of life’s best moments

Do you have a photo of the single best moment of your life?

When Sports Illustrated writer Richard Deitsch saw this photo on Twitter two weeks ago of brothers celebrating Yale University’s national hockey championship, he was inspired.

Deitsch sent a Tweet of his own, asking his followers, “How many of you have a photograph of the single best moment of your life?”

Within minutes, answers, in the form of photos, came rushing in: Parents’ first moment with a newborn, the moment he asks and she says yes, the moment of homecoming from the danger of war. Dozens, then hundreds of photos streamed in, in what Deitsch describes as a “fountain of humanity.”

So…Do you have one single defining moment captured in a photo? what might it be? Perhaps you can tweet it 🙂  @nenifoofer #definingmoment or head straight to the man who began this @richarddeitsch

All of the photos could be defining moments for me. If I had to choose just one and one only I am going to have to say the sponsorship for International Exchange and tripping off to Mexico. That experience changed me completely and opened my eyes to a world I could never have imagined. I felt honoured and humbled, I learned a new language and I suddenly understood what poverty, and faith, and cultural tradition really was. (At 15 I also found a fun way to live;) )

But really…how do you choose from these moments? They all matter – and they are all recorded in a scrapbook!

What is in the box?

There is nothing like the excitement of opening that first deliivery from Close To My Heart and I was very lucky that team member Sandra, who was the first in my team to get her box, brought it to my place to share the grand opening!

Here is ‘the box’ – we all got one eventually!

Mystery creative workshop

I had a fantastic play date today with my long time friend, patchwork teacher and fellow CTMH consultant Sandra Boutlon. She had been planning this little treat for us ‘creative’ girls for some time and her effort stands out in the crowd for the personal touch. We arrived to find we each had a very large box and a glue stick. The box was gorgeous and  full of goodies. I was excited to see I now have my very own Paris Box!

Now I tend to tell the truth and here is no different. Sandra had told me about all the bits and pieces she was collecting and this phrase smashbooking first entered my lexicon at a market about 6 weeks ago when a customer sifted through my baggies and found a couple of scrap bags, a few card kits and some leftover  ST Pat’s dies cuts I had made with my Silhouette cutting machine. I asked if she was a cardmaker. ‘No’ she said. ‘I do smashbooks. They are like scrapbooks but also very different’.

I mulled this over, asked Sandra if that is what we were doing and got ‘kind of but don’t go looking’ or I would ‘spoil it’. Hmmmm…..Curiosity never killed my cat! So I had a poke around, joined a couple of facebook groups but avoided You Tube. There is a group for smashaholics on FB and now I know why!

If you have been following me you would also no I am now a Close To My Heart consultant eagerly awaiting the arrival of the precious first kit. In that kit is the My Crush™ Modville Book and My Crush™ Besties Assortment. This has all us Aussie consultants scratching our heads a bit. We are so used to our ‘normal’ scrapbook albums just for photos and photosafe embellishments that consist of CM brand pages, protectors and strap bound cover we have no idea about the lumpy bumpy stuff. As a consultant we all stood by the flat scrapping that was CM with only a slight third dimension from a foam square or a little bling with an epoxy gem or pearl here or there – a ‘smash’ book was foreign to many of us and many have wondered what they were. Some are even a little uneasy about all the new ‘creative’ stuff we are going to get. I am not…I can’t wait to sink my teeth into this!

I tried to help some sisters on discussion boards but words do fail to really describe these pieces of art in any kind of quick post in a discussion forum. Off I went to You Tube to find out more…(yes Sandra…I bowed to temptation and went to do some research!)

Smashbooks vary a lot. Variations are sometimes called art journals, or junk journals. They include much more than paper! I won’t define them here…but will direct you to my video list on you tube that has the videos I have liked (and will) and listed under smashbooking so far. Take a look from here.

Back to my fun day! My box of goodies contained:

Scrapbook paper, paper scraps, bits of exercise book paper, a sheet of postcodes, an empty box, some envelopes, some old CM workshop vouchers, my original invitation to Sandra to my birthday party, some punchies, tiles and phrases cut from nagazines

Fabric scraps in red, red hat print, ribbons and lace to coordinate, a red artificial rose, pipe cleaners, a bag of buttons, some lovely red silk….

Some really stiff board, an empty box, and empty pillow shaped chocolate box printed with red roses on a silver background…

A funny little tupperware ruler corner maker thingy from when Sandra was a Tupperware rep. (You learn something new every day. I didn’t know this about my friend!) This came in handy for spreading glue and flattening folds.

What is in the box?

What is in the box?

Red Hat!

Red Hat!

Can you see where this was all headed? I have just become a Red Hatter, and Sandra has given me a whole box of goodies to celebrate both that and my milestone 50th birthday.

So…I had a lot of….red and purple….junk!

Most of it was scrap something. The kind of stuff we often hoard and then in a moment of clean up and downsize frenzy turf out to the garbage, ready to be recycled. We all got similar things in our boxes but Sandra focussed on that personal theme- the end result being we had very different looking products at the end.

Just as well there were only 3

But, there was more, and it wasn’t steak knives. I secretly harbour just a little envy for Sandra’s Shed. It is a tin shed, fully lined, airconditioned and chocablock with goodies. Most of this is sewing related, but there were loads of ribbon and trim, scrapbook paper, bits cut from magazines, old notebooks, paper labels from haberdashery and a few wall paper sample books. These were my favourite of the day!  All of this ‘junk’ was made available to us along with old manilla folders (recycled from the days of needing to keep office for a patchwork shop many moons ago) that were the base of our smashbook pages.

On the initially very clean and tidy table were trays. One had some ink pads, one had some printed duct tape (a recent find), one had rulers, pencils and other tools. There was a sewing machine set up and several cutting boards. We were given a jar with some PVA glue in it and a brush with a recycled Jenny Craig food tray with a bit cut out for a brush rest…we had almost all we needed for our very first smashbooks!!! The final touch was baby wipes. Top tip of the day – these are great for wiping PVA glue off your hands!

So off I went deciding to do bigger pages. It was to be about red hat and turning 50 all at once. I knew I would need big pockets for my favourite cards. After showing us examples and illustrating possibilities and the ease with which we could throw together a little note book, make a funky tag, recycle something we never thought of recycling before, and being innovative with design and free to embellish as we pleased Sandra let us loose.

Creativity is messy

Creativity is messy

The room smelled deliciously of PVA glue, fresh apple cinnamon cake, and coffee. There was the sound of happy chatter, the sewing machine and a constant input of tips and ideas from Sandra. We were like little kids on craft day at school! The table became an unwieldy mess of junk as pieces of art were made. And after those few hours quickly went by I HAD to pull mine out when I got home and add  my from my own scrap stash – my red hat stickers, my bling (all good Queens need bling) my cards, and I was even tempted to break out the paint brushes! I had all these creative juices going I did not want to stop.

Clearly I have stopped now – my journal is all done bar the finishing touches. I would like to finish off some edges and for that I will need to go do a little shopping. Or I can just wait till my Washi Tape arrives in my kit! Then I need to put one final binding on it to hold it all together and it will be done.

Mini Journal

Mini Journal

So…I have smashed today and had a ball. And yes I have journalled in it. There is some sentiment and record in it but not as much as I would like to do. For now it is big enough and I am pleased with my first efforts at this artform. All I need to do is open up an inserted notebook and do some more journalling for it to be just right and worthy of reading.

When my My Crush Book by CTMH arrives  (a premade, predesigned journal by Close To My Heart)  I am more likely to have less lumps and bumps and more artwork in the form of stamps, drawing and I may even dabble in some watercolour pieces to put into it. I can’t wait to see if it is all I imagine it will be! I am so excited to be moving beyond the scrapbook page and into other areas of creativity! Lot’s of people say they are not creative – I have news for you…You are! If you don’t have time that is different, but I believe it is important to let your inner child go get creative at least once a month to keep that bit of your brain nourished 🙂

If I leave my stuff right where it is right now all around my workspace I may just start another one! Tomorrow is Sunday…I think I will!
