Paper Garden available now from http://www.thecreativeheart.ctmh.com.au

I have create my card using the pigment inks on cricut cut flowers following the cricut cut directions on the stamp set. I love the wire stamp! I stamped the whole stamp with Desert Sand from the Basics Pigment set. I have used a light and dark green for the leaf stamp (I love blending two pigment colours on a stamp this way) and stamped the flowers with Gypsy and Honey. I have daubed the edges. The wire is stamped in Slate.  The flowers were cut with the cricut Artiste Cartridge. Congratulations is stamped in Smokey Plum (just retired) and I mounted the card on Smokey Plum Base cards cut at 11 x 4 1/4. I was very excited my new Gold Foil had arrived so I was able to add that to the finished card along with triangle studs. You can’t see the foil well in this image but trust me it is not a black strip!

You can easily achieve the background paper. I cut White daisy at 4 x 5 1/4. I inked the NEGATIVE side of the Damask embossing folder with Bamboo ink. I laid the white cardstock on it and ran it through the Cuttlebug.

Ink the raised embossed edge

I then used the actual Bamboo Ink Pad to ink a much darker value of the same colour onto the raised damask pattern.

I made the strip of Gold Polka Dot by attaching it to strips of Bamboo cardstock.
I stamped the Frame and For You Sentiment with Versamark ink and embossed with Gold embossing poweders. I cut this and mounted it to Cocoa cardstock.

Make a pile at once!

I made the card based from a 4 1/2 x 11 inch piece of Cocoa card stock. I have made some use of Cocoa fundamentals in my greetings:)
I have added some ribbon from my stash to add that finishing touch.
I hope you have enjoyed this card and will give these techniques a try! I can’t wait to share this in my classes. Framed SOTM is available to Australian Customers for just $5 with a $75 purchase of $29 at full price in AUGUST ONLY. The ‘how to’ for the braided card can be found over on You tube right here I forgot to cut away the first piece and add it to the gap at the top but they worked out ok with the dual sides and using scraps for the coordinating sentiments. For the sentiments I simply stamped in the matching ink colour to coordinate with the Fundamentals paper. I have embellished these cards with a variety of leftover coordinating bits some of which are are unfortunately NLA. You are sure to find something appropriate in your stash and in our While Stocks Last section of our online stores. Don’t forget August is also the LAST MONTH of the current Idea Book. Ask us about what you need from it before it is gone forever!

This exclusive Framed  Stamp Set stamp is only available during Month of August. It can be yours for just $5 with a qualifying order of $75 or for $29.00 if ordered separately from your CTMH consultant.   If you do not have a consultant please contact me or place an order at The Creative Heart

I’d love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop, Denise’s Blog Scrap Stamp Share

CTMH Products used in this project include Fundamentals Adventure and Basic collection papers, exclusive inks, and White Daisy Cardstock, I especially enjoyed the precision of our Non stick Microtip scissors to create the braids.

Icecream Dreams SOTM Australasia Blog Hop

AUNZ blog hop

Today I would like to share with you this card which features June Stamp of the Month Icecream Dreams S1506  available exclusively throughout June for $27 or for just $5 when you spend $75.

20150528_172810

I started this fun card stamping up a few versions of it using just Black ink to stamp the label but this one features a Black embossing powder I have. I have also used out glitter paper and sequins.

I am going to share with you some tips for colouring the icecreams and the dogs in this post. If you want to skip ahead, your next stop in the hop is Maz. Please leave me a comment before you go.

A few variations of the same idea before they make it to a card

A few variations of the same idea before they make it to a card

You have 2 choices for colouring here and they both begin by squishing your ink pad so some ink ends up on the lid as shown. You need to choose to use either your colourless Shin Han Marker Z2469 or a paintbrush. I have a fillable paint brush commonly available from craft stores. You can also use a standard size 3 nylon brush. 20150527_215302

Add water to the ink you have transferred to your lid and you have a water colour to play with. All you need is to remember a few simple rules,

  • a softer colour requires a mix of more water, less ink – and vice versa – a strong vibrant colour will come with less water and more ink.
  • rinse between colours
  • do not over wet CTMH White cardstock – it will bleed no matter what ink you use for the image to colour if it gets too wet from either your brush or your marker.
  • Paper towel nearby is a useful blotter to remove too much water
  • turn your work so you are pulling colour toward you. You will notice I often turn my work in my videos.
  • Enjoy he pocess and fuss less. These will go on a card, not win an art award….

I believe cards need to be made with scraps and these samples have all been made with a strip scrap after last months workshop. (Look for my give away at the bottom of the post)

Brush colouring on right, clear marker colouring on left - you decide which you like.

Brush colouring on right, clear marker colouring on left – you decide which you like best

You CAN use your colourless Shin Han Marker if you are not comfortable with a brush. I have illustrated this in the video. However, I find this process too slow and tedious and much prefer to paint. I also have much more control over the colour and its intensity as you will see.I can get a much softer blend too. (However I acknowledge I am very comfortable with a paintbrush in my hand)

20150527_215332

You can also see I have stamped a number of these elements on one card. Make sure it is thoroughly dry. The next step is to give them a good coverage of Liquid Glass z769. Your liquid glass will cause bleeding if the artwork is not bone dry. (Try setting it with a heat gun). Be sure to leave it a long time. (OVERNIGHT). You can then fussy cut the items out and mount them to the card.Once cut you can ‘hide’ the white core by colouring the edge with a Shin Han Black marker.Z2446

20150528_171657

20150527_213146The full palette of colours is inspired by the palette listed for the Blossom papers. Exclusive Inks Lagoon, Blossom, Sorbet, Flaxen and Pear. I used Cocoa for the Dog. (it does look green when you add water – don’t panic, it dries brown.)

To finish off my card I have used some Teal glitter paper z1991 and Sorbet Cardstock. I have used the Coral sequins too.

Here is a Video to show you how I colour with both the pen and the brush. *embedding you tube does not want to play the game nicely with  me tonight so here is the Link to click.

June Stamp of the Month Icecream Dreams S1506  available exclusively throughout June for $27 or for just $5 when you spend $75. You can shop online right now with The Creative Heart.  or contact your consultant.

I sincerely hope I have inspired you to give brush colouring a go and compare it to the Colourless Shin Han Marker. Give each a try and see what is a good fit for you!

Australasian Blog Hop Stamp of the Month S1502 A Happy Hello

AUNZ blog hop

A Happy Hello! CTMH Stamp of the Month Australasian Blog Hop.

Welcome to a new month aboard our Stamp of the Month Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop. If you have arrived here from  Meryl Cheetham – Mez’s Craft Room then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

Cooee!!  G’day!  I am barely over the excitement of Australia Day and Back to School  time for us. (Myself included following a two year break!) However, I am happy to share this piece of Artwork I created for A Happy Hello S1502 which is available for February only at $27 AU or just $5 with your $75 order placed with me or online.

sotm1502happyhello

I first did this for a card swap and am now pleased to share it with you. I love that we can do layers with this stamp and build up circles in all kinds of ways. I also love the stem and leaves and am positive it will get pulled out time and again for just that purpose.  I am a fan of random stamping and this set is perfect for that as you can see with this card.

For the card I have random stamped the stem with Olive, the flowers with Whisper and flaxen. I added some gold spot Washi, some triangle studs and stamped the sentiment in Barn Red on a piece of scrap Champagne. (I did use a different sentiment – one of the must have sentiment sets for cardmaking was used in my card.)  I added a touch of bling with puffies. This card is very simple and effective. Why not try it with a completely different colour palette?

Sticky Boy Has Arrived in my Studio!

OMG I am so excited….if you are a CTMH sister who has been to a CTMH event you will get this. If not…imagine the fun! I am one of the many fully grown people who have looked and looked and looked…..on walls, on pillars, on tables, under tables, on railings, on mirrors, on glass, on pitchers, … in short…On IN or Under anything within cooee of a foyer or registration desk at one of our CTMH functions, looking for the elusive Sticky Boy.He comes in all sizes and loves to dress up! (my kind of guy 😉 )

Back in 2013 when my connection to the company started I was like many wondering ‘who or what is this sticky boy?’ Then I saw Him – elusive fellow he is,  and someone let me stamp him on my paper, but he wasn’t mine and I had only the stamped image to remember him by. Back then, I also watched the Sticky Boy Video, and learned the Sticky Boy Story. One thing is for sure, as far as acrylic stamps go I am in love with My Acrylix and truly appreciate the range by CTMH. Watch this video and you will see Sticky Boy at his best!

I did manage to get a teeny weeny Sticky Boy Dressed in Aussie slouch hat carrying a suitcase at convention but I am so afraid of losing him I keep him tucked in my convention attendance holder. Soon he will make an appearance on pages I scrapbook when I am up to convention USA in 2014. (I am working on it – up to week 3 of my trip!) So for this little cutie you will have to wait!

I am not going to repeat the whole sticky boy story here.  You can follow Sticky Boy yourself on Facebook or instagram – just look for the hashtag #whereintheworldisstickyboy and you are sure to find not only his story but some awesome artwork too.   I am very lucky to have an upline who was willing to share her stick boy with me. I am axcited to be able to share and pass on the legacy (or is that legend, cos Sticky Boy is a Leg (pronouncedd lej) ya know!)

So, this is where sticky boy is in my part of the world. #whereintheworldisstickyboy   Mildura, Australia. As soon as he arrived in my mailbox I started sharing my day with Sticky Boy. We went out to visit my parents.

The First artwork featuring my Sticky Boy –

IMG_20150122_215107

Make the most of your scraps – I love using them to make cards 🙂

20150122_205952

I used the scraps from my Year Noted paper I had cut Honeycomb style and the stamp set C1537 Honeycomb flair to make the card. It isn’t too late to get your Year Noted paper kit with qualifying orders. If you order online it can be sent right to your door (Australia Only) and you will be in the monthly host draw.

More artwork featuring Sticky Boy is to come since now I have that awesome task!

Have a great weekend Australia….

Close your eyes…imagine what you will be doing to celebrate being Australian! Stay tuned….

Confetti Wishes Exploding Card with a cupcake!

A great big Happy Birthday to CTMH as we celebrate #30yearsofhappy stamping and enjoy the FREE stamp set with 30 mini stamps! This month I am also featuring all things Birthday at my Monthly crop and the best paper collection for this lind of celebration is Confetti Wishes.

Birthday Explosión box

Birthday Explosión box

I have created this exploding box card for display and inspiration at my upcoming workshop on September 21st. (If you are local be sure to book now!). This piece showcases what we can achieve with Confetti Wishes X7189B paper, the Artiste Cricut cartridge and our awesome Pink glitter paper Z1792!

If you have not tried the glitter paper out yet then I suggest you do. It doesn’t flake and cuts clean on the cricut with blade set to 6 and doing a double cut as I did for the title here. Slow it down for intricate designs, and lift carefully from your mat. If it is really a really sticky mat you will need the spatula.

1410505545045

There are a lot of tutorials on exploding box cards so I will not detail that here. For the cupcake I cut a cupcale holder from artiste at 4 inches. I guestimated the size I needed and it worked out just right. I stamped and embellished this before folding it with ‘Gliitter girl’ from Glitter Glam B1465 and the foliage from ‘Love This’.B1432. I sat a 3 inch styrofoam ball in the cupcake holder and covered that with double sided tape and removed the covering from the tape leaving sticky side ready for use.

Time to decorate the cup Cake!

Thoroughly wet 3 1/2inch pieces of Thistle card stock and scrunch each one up. Gently unfold these and lay them on the open double sided tape on the top of the Cup Cake. It won’t stick while it is wet – just position it , prod it, move it till you are happy with the look. (Dressmakers pins will hold it if need be) Here is the trick….Allow to dry overnight. By then it will be stuck and nice and firm again for you to play with.

1410505229588

Add a touch of Bonding Memories glue 1512 around the top of the cupcake rim and over the iced top. Sprinkle with glitter. (My messy mat  – All purpose Mat Z2045 helps make this job much easier to clean up!) Add something on top, some Bitty Sparkles Z1263 and you are done. I have adhered the cup cake to the card by stacking 4 layers of 3D foam tape Z1151 in the centre of the card so the stack reaches the bottom of the styrofoam ball. On the lid of the box I have used sponge daubers and more glitter to finish it off.

Glitter Paper Tip

I have found the stickers are not staying put on the glitter paper. The answer to that problem is liquid glass.!!! Our answer to anything that needs to be Stuck! 3D Foam tape also works well on this surface.

Shopping list – Note – this shoping list entitles you to add – Free #30yearsofhappy stamp and Stamp of the month Family is Forever! – That is and additional $48 worth of stamping fun for just $5!

You might also need these inks – Thistle, Canary and Pacifica.

Additional Supplies – available as 50% off host reward items

Thank you for stopping by. I would love to have some feed back in a comment before you go! I hope you are inspired by this project. If you are local to Mildura and would learn to make one of these in a class setting please let me know in your comment below. Don’t forget our workshop is coming up. Here is a sneak peek.
