Love Notes Mini Journal

Ok I will fess up. I initially felt I had little use for this stamp set as I have no lover, no kids and my dogs can’t read a love note I might write. I did what I always do – I just stamped some of it out and an idea was born.

URok is a deliberate choice – This book is meant to be an affirmation not a question:)

A little back story may help with why I did this mini album. It is no secret among those close to me I suffer depression. I am OK right now because I have awesome things to do with my time, (teaching people how to be creative is awesome) and great family and great friends supporting me. But I am not always ok. I am a single 50 something living at home in an empty nest with 2 dogs. I battle the black dog daily. While I occasionally have the company of my girls and grandson, I am very much alone and that sense of isolation can exacerbate any feelings of depression coursing through my veins.

I created this project while completely alone between Christmas and New Year. It is a time in which we reflect on what we have done and achieved and what we might like to plan for the years to come. I have promised myself to take some everyday photos to fill the pages along with completing the all important journalling. Maybe one day one of my offspring will treat it as a treasure once I have done those pages. But its purpose for me is in this moment!

My mini album therefore is intended to be an antidote to feeling sad. It is a very big Love Note reminder to take care of and love myself by being in the moment and appreciating that.  It gives me great pleasure to share with you my empty Mini I put together in just one evening using a few fun, well priced CTMH products.

Get your stuff together including a selection for For Always PML cards that speak to you.

Get your stuff together including a selection for For Always PML cards that speak to you.

All you need is the Hip Pics Mini Album Z1956, A la Carte For Always Picture My Life CardsZ3065 , Black Arrow Washi Tape Z2003, Black Shimmer trim Z1809, Marvy Uchida LePen journalling pen Z1979, Sparkles Black and Grey Assortment Z1754, Scaredy Cat assortment (Black Stars)Z3011, and an assortment of Black, White and Kraft paper. I have used just two inks, Black Z2105 and White Daisy Z2163. I added a piece of Black Twill Z1988 ribbon to my spine too. Get set to do each page as you feel as all these products coordinate completely with the for Always cards. The stamp set could well have been created from the same designs. I had a ball bringing these pages together.

Get over creative block!

To begin with I stamped some of the titles and icons on black, white and kraft paper. This gets my creative juices going and helps push me past creative block! Then I knew how and where I wanted to place things on the album cover. I flipped through my For Always cards and chose those that were actually very similar and even the same in style with this stamp set, and fitted my colour scheme of black, white and kraft, as well as my mood and the thoughts I was feeling. I made no definite decisions yet but I had a nice little pile of large and small cards. I flushed out a piece of Black Fundamentals paper from my stash to use as well as I loved the Zing of the black and white chevron.

I like the hip pics pages but feel the pockets need a bit of stabilising. Fill each one with a piece of card 6 x 4 1/4. I mixed these up from my colours. Then I added PML cards. NOW is the time to stamp directly on the white space of your pages if desired. If you wait it can become a little lumpy bumpy and complicated. You can always cover it up if you decide you do not like it:)If you do need to support a page from lumps elsewhere slip your Versamat in there to help.

To adhere the PML cards into the album I simply hinged them in with black arrow Washi tape and used some scraps from fussy cut cards as tabs where needed. Once it was all stuck down I came back to decorate with more faux washi (scraps from cards!) I also did pen outlines, and stuck down some shimmer trim and gems. This little album is now ready for some photos and some reflection about what makes me smile, and what matters to me so in a moment I can be reminded to be in the moment. Here is how mine came together.

Here Hello is stamped 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation.

White pigment ink looks great on our Kraft card stock. Give it a try.

I gorgot to do photos – the crds on the left fall down revealing my precious and grately appreciated first cuppa of the day.

Here the photo of the day title is fussy cut from the card and popped on top – over the same card I cut it from with the hip pics frame in between.

The love notes on the right included a little fold out note slipped into the pocket of the page. It is all set in place ready for me to write a nice love note.

Shopping list – If you have a stash – your only investment might be this cute album and the PML cards

I would love to hear from you if you decide to take this or a similar approach with this stamp set. Please let me know if I have inspired you.

This Moment is only available until January 31 from your CTMH consultant. I’d love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop,

Australasian Stamp of the Month Blog Hop S1412 Cutie Pie

sotm blog hop

Hello and welcome aboard our Stamp of the month Australasian Close to My Heart Blog Hop. If you have arrived here from Maz’s Inky Fingers then you are in the right place. If you landed here by accident, no problem, please join in by following the link at the end of this post.

How cute is this???

S1412 Cutie Pie

I Love it and I have had a LOT of fun making cards and pages with it already! I know many of us have been hanging out for this Stamp of the Month to get here and yippeee here it is! December Stamp of the Month is Cutie Pie S1412 and it is available  for $27 or for just $5 when you spend $75 with your consultant. (Ask your consultant about the additional Deal of the Decade if your order is at this amount!)

I have decided to pair my SOTM project up with the new paper collection Heartstrings because it comes with a card making kit rather than a WOTG, and we have a yummy mini pack of coordinating PML Cards. So, it did not take me long to come up with this layout.

sotm cupcakes layout

I have focussed on the blues in the PML cards. The best match card stock and ink was Crystal Blue. I used our biggest block (4 x 5 Y1012) and started by mounting all 4 cupackes on the block in random directions. I then stamped this rotating the block 90 degrees and 180 and even rotating the paper. This gave me the random stamped cupcake background.

The side strips are a 2 inch strip of Crystal Blue embossed with the new Diamond Embossing folder. It looks and feels really quilted! I added the flourish from the Heartstrings complements, inked the edges of my selected pml cards and added a zip strip to one of the photos mounts. Random scraps also make a great washi look and you need that bit of bling with silver shimmer trim.

Dec sotm cupcakes

I had already been playing in my paper packet so I had B and T scraps to use – but you could use PML cards if that is all you have. Stamp a cupcake (or 3!)  using Black ink on the Heartstrings B and T papers. Mix it up. Separate the wrapper from the top of each one and shuffle them around. Adhere them to a small strip of scrap paper as you put them back together. This will support them. Then use foam mounting tape to adhere them to the page. I used a strip of B and T paper as a ‘shelf’ to put them on. Don’t forget the sparkle for the top!

I added some heart stamps and some puffy hearts from the new Stuck on you Puffies just to finish it off with a bit of red.

To complete this project you will need

December SOTM is only available through till Dec 31 is from your CTMH consultant.I’d love you to leave a comment before heading off to the next stop,  Wendy Hopper,to see what she has created for you.

Simple Stunning Picture My Life part 2!

Hi everyone

I took my Picture my life page layout from the last post and showed my weekly class students. They have boys and wanted to have a shot at it. They have given me permission to share the work they did and they did an awesome job! These pages were put together quickly. Almost all are what we call level 1 pages – which simply means there is no stamping. PML cards are brilliant for the non stamping scrapbooker!

My Tuesday Technique class students did these pages so quickly they got to do a second one – 2 double pages done in less than 2 hours! “The hardest part is choosing the cards!’

This one used a background stamp on 2 strips making it a level 2 layout.

One more…

On this page I made I tried to replicate some of the background and texture on the cards. First I sanded. Then I added the colour to the corners. Bubble wrap would have been good but I did not have any so a dauber did the work. I also used my spray pens to splotch it up a bit. Finally I rubbed in some darker colour. A close reflection of the background of one of the cards on this page was made. I hope we get a checker plate stamp some time as that would have been awesome!

Closeup of the background artwork

Picture My Life sets can be viewed here. Add some Washi Tape and some Embellishments and you are done! There are so many to choose from! If you would like a class using PML cards and live within cooee of me in Sunraysia book a class and you and your friends will be able to select from a large range of cards to make your pages. Use the form below to get started!

Happy crafting!

Everything ABC’s Blog hop – S is for SIMPLE!

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

abc bloghop

For this hop we will be featuring the letter S. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their # element will be featured in their post. If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda’s blog ~ Scrappy Therapy

If you came from  Lauren Moore – CTMH Craftings youu are in the right place.

S is for Super Simple!

I recently have been watching from a distance on FB the success of my nephews in their sporting activities this year and that got me thinking about how we might scrapbook the stories of a teenage boy and his almost double figure younger brother and their awesome season. This is what I came up with. I will be giving one of these nephews this page layout when he visits in the school holidays.

Completed super simple and very fast page.

Super simple PML page layout in the traditional way. Picture My Life cards are truly very versatile! Close To My Heart have a lovely range for us to choose from too!

The page is built on our awesome Picture My Life Scrapbooking Program. The design used here is Later Sk8terZ1945.  While we do not have the paper pack of this design we do have these cards and the card stock to match! PML cards are the source of titles, embelishments, photo mounts and journalling boxes all rolled into one! You can use them to pocket scrap, make cards and do more traditional layouts like this one. The price of them makes them very cost effective for a themed album too.

Each card is double sided. There are 22 of each 6 x 4 design (44 cards)  and 3 of each 2 x 4 design cards (78 cards) giving you a total of 122 cards to play with. Each set comes with a title page and a variety of pocket pages for your album. You can mix pocket pages and normal pages up in your album using layouts like this one..

Sand the base cardstock to match the texture of the cards. The extra white little bits come from paper crumbs (corner rounder bits) under the cardstock - a happy accident!

I decided to use the same colours that are in the set – Outdoor Denim and Pear. To get ‘the look’ of the cards I have scrubbed the card stock with the sanding tool in our sanding kit. I did smudge the pear strips with a little outdoor denim ink using a sponge, but this is the only ink on this layout!

Fussy cut embellishments from a card or use them whole. Here I have taken a big card, cut the banner embellishment away and turned the remainder into a title card.

I have fussy cut 2 of the cards for embellishments, chosen a journalling card and a title. the rest are pure decoration. The suggested photo sizes for the layout especially on the right could really change according to what you have on hand.

And there is more!!! While I was at it I used these cards to creae a birthday card and some congratulations cards for both my nephews since they had had such an awesome season.

New Product Feature – Chalk it up!

New  product blog hop

I will confess right now for those of you who don’t know. In my formal job I am a teacher. Being a teacher is in my soul. Mother tells me I used to play ‘school’ with my little brother. So when CTMH brought us a paper pack and a Picture my Life pack called Chalk it up naturally even at 51 I am excited and also quite nostalgic since we do not use blackboard and chalk anymore. Who can remember a teacher who was really good with her artwork on the chalk board? I wonder if these are the reasons why chalk boards are currently also popular decor items!

Now if you really like this new Chalk it up kit it is the kit currently included in your Consultant kit!

new consultant kit – just $130 plus $19.50 P and H contains $500 worth of product including Chalk It Up WOTG AND Tthe Fore Always PML KIT! You get inks, blocks, embellishments, a n E size alphabet stamp set, some markers, some washi and more!

The Chalk It Up WOTG kit gives you all the instructions you need to create this page layout

Here is some additional some artwork I have done with Chalk it up WOTG and Chalk it up PML.

Pages and cards using the Chalk it up collection

You can see the papers on page 26 of the Annual Inspirations Idea Book or check them online here. Contact me (see below)  if you would like a hard copy of the new Idea Book. I have also used the Chalk It Up Picture My Life Z2018 program on the page layout. This makes for speedy decoration of a page!

You can see the WOTG kit (workshop on the go kit) on page 28-29 and the host rewards stamp Better With a Friend D1608 is on page 11. You will not find this stamp online as it is exclusive to our gathering hosts. Be sure to talk to me about our broad range of gathering options.

I have also used the lines, titles and graduation cap from the Teacher Appreciation Stamp D1612 on this page layout.

At this time of the year with Year twelve students only 12 weeks from graduating now is the time to get organised with your school graduation photos and thank you gifts for teachers. Teachers do not often get a thanks but they sure do appreciate it when they do. There are some ideas in the Idea Book for you to follow. The bunch of pencils is an awesome ideas as I remember forever handing students a pen or pencil because they ‘forgot theirs at home’!

You will find the Great Job stamp set C1588 and card on page 32.You can use this stamp set to congratulate your child or anyone else for that matter, on a job well done! I am going to be teaching the techniques from the card displayed in the idea book at my Tuesday Technique class.

I have also used the owl from this month’s Stamp Of The Month What a Hoot S1408. This stamp set is only $5 with every $75 order.

To view and purchase any of the products in this range of artwork click the links below to head to my online store to place your order. Be sure to join my August Online Host gathering  to go into the draw for the host rewards at the end of the month! (you could get Better with a friend for free!)
