Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!
For this hop we will be featuring the letter Z. This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment. Whatever the crafter has chosen as their Z element will be featured in their post. If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda’s blog ~ Scrapper’s Therapy

Z is for…
ZEBRA! Who doesn’t mind the occasional bit of Big Bold Zebra print? Did you know we here at Close To My Heart have some of that? We do – right there in the Bluebird My Crush book! I decided this would be my Z project. I could have created a photo op of me catching some well earned ZZzzs but being the only one living in my home that would not be possible. There are no Zebra’s here abouts for me to photograph either. I did think of doing a Z sampler with my alpha stamps but I really wanted to work with the other side of Zebra for me. Besides, this is a Z product as it has the product code Z1856!
Now I suppose you know about Zebra stripes – they are all unique. They may look the same, but they are not. Their stripes are like fingerprints in humans, giving them loads of individuality. Therefore Zebra striped patterns on paper yell Big, Bold, Individual. Be yourself, Live Out Loud and Big Ideas are all titles that spoke to me when pondering this page.
I got thinking what would be my big, individual hopes and dreams for 2014 and I kept coming back to travel. For some this is a no-brainer but for me it is BIG because I want to go to places I have only dreamed about an dismiss as un-achievable as quickly as an idea of doing so enters my head. For me these places are distant, exotic, and not in my current budget in fiscal terms.
BUT, if I give myself permission to dream big and bold I just may get to one of these destinations some time before I am not too much older. The travel theme took hold of this page as a result of giving myself permission. I created a page of titles and symbols, made it into a pocket and the tag has the dream list. I have even put the Eiffel Tower on this page – one of the most renown symbols of both travel and big ideas!
The note paper page is made into a pocket. I used Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge Accent 1 p 47 (6 inches) for this and cut it with Kraft paper. Big Ideas p 42, Live Out Loud p 44 and Be Yourself p41 come from the Art Booking cartridge. The paper plane, it’s track and the female traveller are all stamps on the ‘On Holiday’ Stamp Set (C1572) . I have used Black cardstock and pigment ink for these elements. The black ribbon in the tag is from my stash.
I decided to scruff the plain kraft background with a little almost bold smudging. To Do this I loaded an old paint brush with the pigment ink and swept the page vertically and horizontally with light strokes. It was fun to have a paint brush in my hands again!
On the page opposite I used the 10 Things (Artbooking again) to compliment my Big Ideas, but since the prompt on the page says these are some of my favourite things, that is what I have listed. I used the white chalk marker to write on the black cardstock.
Oh…and where do I want to go to? Take a peek at the start of the list!
I love the opportunity the My Crush books give us to just journal and reflect, and leave a legacy for those who follow us with an insight into our hopes and dreams as well as what we liked to do and what we have achieved. I think it leaves a more rounded story about us for our grandchildren. Grab a Crush book from your consultant check the supplies links below and start recording your big ideas!
