International SOTM Blog Hop Icecream Dreams

JuneBadge

Hello and welcome to our international Icecream Dreams S1506 blog hop! There are 50 of us and if you started at the beginning congratulations you have made it right to the end!  If you have arrived here from  CTMH sister Jaime Llewellyn you are in the right place. A full list of bloggers is available at Melinda’s Blog just in case you missed some along the way.

How cute is this dog? Can you hear this Ice Cream van?

I have done a fun and colourful piece of artwork for a single page layout. It is currently in my Calendar Z1030 (hence the wire binding at the bottom) and given June is WINTER where I live I can only dream of desiring icecream! However these colours sure will brighten my days and I can’t  wait to get a photo of my Grandson with his lips around an icecream for the photo to make the page layout complete.

I first created this page to teach my students how to use emboss resist techniques with White embossing powder Z2068, and our sponge z697 (I love the range of things we can do with a $2 sponge!) and inks. It is a super easy technique to do and I will describe that below. I have also coloured with our watercolour pencils. I prefer these to our pens. (It is the painter in me!)

First random stamp the icecream images over 4 inches at the right side of the page with Versamark ink Z891. Then sprinkle on your white ebmossing powder and heat set with a heat gun. Do the same with the icecream van on scrap white cardstock.

Now open up your Canary, Sorbet, Glacier and Sunset inks and using our round sponge scrape over each one one at a time and rub the colour into the page. Turn the sponge as you change colours and do not be afraid to blend them together on the page. You end up with some really nice colour combinations. The white embossing should be showing through nicely. There is no reason you could not do this technique for your whole background, or apply it to a whole piece of 12  x 12 White cardstock to then use half and half with coordinating cardstock over a double page spread. If you do please let me know and share it here!

For the van apply water colour pencil in colours that coordinate to your liking. Then with a damp paintbrush smooth those watercolours out. The colour will be richer and more vibrant. Fussy cut this out ready to add to the page.

For the ‘You can’t buy happiness’ sign and the dog I have used Black ink to stamp the outlines. ( I personally find bleeding an issue regardless of the ink as our Whit cardstock is unsealed and very absorbent. The trick is not to let it get too wet.) Once again I have added colour with watercolour pencils. On the photo mat I used black ink for the title. Every stamp on this SOTM sheet has been used in this project. I have used a piece or 12 x 8 Sweet Leaf cardstock and a 7 x 5 piece of Kraft for the photo mount. The sign is mounted on Sunset cardstock. I finished it off with some Orange chevron washi and the new Carnival Washi Pack

I hope you enjoy this page and will give emboss resist a go. It really is fun and you can use all kinds of colours to great effect. Icecream Dreams S1506 is available to Australian purchasers in June Only for $27 or  just $5 with every $75 purchase.
